20 Things To Consider To Survive Anime Expo's
Well, if
you are looking to fully enjoy the event whilst surviving it here are a few
tips for you Rookie:
- Go with a
friend
The more the Merrier! (Or bring a lot of money... -_- that always seems
to boosts ones confidence for some weird reason)
- Save Up For the Event
Save up
for the event and bring extra money after you are done budgeting because there
are times when the cash runs low and you end up in situations that require
money that you had never put in your budget.
- Book In Advance
Book the
Hotel rooms in advance if you are attending the 3-7 day events, because if you
book on the spot they charge a higher rate due to the fact that that is late
booking.
- Dress To Impress
Put on
something very very comfortable because you would be doing a lot of
walking/traveling. Alot!
- Don't Carry Too Much Stuff
Don't
carry too much stuff into the convention unless you have a reason to, you would
be leaving with a lot of things you can't carry alone and your hotel might not
be nearby.
- Cosplay
Cosplaying gets all the attention in the right ways XD (As always keep it
comfortable.
- Know You Anime Character Lines
Know your
Anime character lines. I can't stress this enough, if you don't know the lines
of background story of your character you might end up looking bad, not that
anybody would point it out though.
- Know the Songs
Know the
most popular Anime songs (OPs and EDs) in case you plan to do karaoke.
- Plan Your Time
To get to
meet the most popular guys/gals/things at the Anime conventions/expo and you'd
have to mark their venues opening times in order to avoid stalling to half a
day or hours in a queue.
- Remember Your Roots
Since it
is an event organized like Anime fans like yourself and I (and fans from all
walks of life). Don't be expecting classy 5 Star services. I say this so you
know the effort put into these events, and though things are changing and
bigger players are moving into the event, always keep in mind that this is a
fan contributed even and Luxuries like Taxi pickups and drops, organized group
outings etc... are not provided. That sort of thing you should organize on your
own, or you could introduce the concept.
- 15 Minute Toilet Rule
Go to the
toilets 15 minutes prior to feeling like doing a no.1 or no.2. Better yet do
that before leaving your Hotel.
- Brush up on your Gaming Skills
If you
are into Gaming and Competition then brush up on your "Naruto Ultimate
Ninja Storm" skills and if you win you might get some money.
- Bring Water
Bring
water or something to drink with you.
- Queue In Advance For Food
Food
stalls have long queues but are worth the wait in the end especially the curry,
sushi or ramen stalls.
- Pack Your Own Food
Don't
like waiting? Pack your own food in a "Bento" and attract positive attention (or
you could eat a sandwich it always beats carrying a Bento).
- Get Ready To Act to Impress
Brush up
on your acting or Camera skills. Someone is bound.
- Stock Up On Interesting Questions To Ask Anime Characters
Stock up
interesting questions for the "ask your fav anime character a
question". You only got 1 shot at this.
- Get Ready To Have a Hard Time Finding a Parking Lot
It is
hard to find a parking spot if you can by car. So if you could afford it go to
the event via a cab or the venues private shuttles. It will save you a lot of
trouble.
- Ask First Photos Later
Ask
before taking photo's or videos. Your fellow Otaku's would more than welcome a
photo from you or with you.
- Plan Ahead On The Venues To Visit
List the
events you are planing to go to and leave room for more. This way you will
enjoy the events more knowing that you have dipped your feet in everything.
- Senpai Will Notice You - Really He Will
Senpai
will notice you if you Cosplay as a Kouhai. He or she will be popping up once
in awhile in different styles so keep that in mind ;). 0_0 No, seriously. KeepThat In Mind!
Senapi will notiec you!
Lastly,
prepare to have a lot of fun and enjoy yourself. That is what is most
important. And incase I missed any feel free to note it here for me.
